Joanne Mayhew (staff, 1962-93) passed away, age 87, at Windsor Regional Hospital, on May 23, 2025 with her family by her side. Joanne grew up in Comber, Ontario. Pre-deceased by her sisters, Lenore Pearson (Ron) and Rosemary Dragich (late George), and her brother, Larry Mayhew (Ellie). Joanne graduated from the University of Western Ontario at the age of 20 with a B.A. Honours French and Latin. Joanne dedicated over three decades to teaching at South, inspiring countless students with her passion for languages, art, and travel. Joanne accompanied every senior class to Europe and continued her love of travel in her retirement years, visiting 95 countries in her lifetime. Joanne became a licensed pilot at the age of 26, was a member of the Mensa Society, taught herself to play the organ, and was an active duplicate bridge player. She loved reading, trivia, and card games, frustrating generations of family members who struggled to ever win against her. Joanne dedicated her summers to building life-long memories for her nieces and nephews, all of whom miss their dear Aunt Joanne tremendously.
