John Walter KRISAK (Staff, 1987-92) passed away February 22, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. The adoring husband of Paulette, and the proud father of four daughters, Rebecca (Bill), Rachel, Leah (Art), and Tessa, he was also a loving grandad to Dante, Theo, Geneva, and Maeve. He is survived by his brother Greg (Bunny).

John was described as a person who “listened with patience and spoke with integrity”, who “dreamed avidly and lived courageously”, a man who “cultivated a rich inner life” and was always “loyal to his people and his passions”. In his 32 years of teaching, he shared these passions with his students and inspired them to pursue their own. Those South students, fortunate enough to have had John as a teacher during his 5 years at South, will undoubtedly remember him fondly. In retirement, John devoted time to the things he loved most; playing his cello to create music with others and the theatre, through which he “met many of his most cherished friends with whom he felt honoured to share the stage”.
