As most alumni are probably aware, the Philadelphia Eagles won last Sunday’s Super Bowl. What some of you may not know, however, is that one member of the team is a South alumnus. In just his second season with the team, Sydney, the first defensive back from Canada to ever play in the Super Bowl, told reporters after the game that he was “at a loss for words. This is just a dream…. It’s crazy to even say I’m a Super Bowl champion right now.”

After working his way into Philadelphia’s starting lineup as a rookie last season, Sydney suffered a torn ACL in January 2024.  Fortunately, he was able to return to action last fall and be a part of this historic victory. His identical twin brother, Chase, who plays for the Cincinnati Bengals, was thrilled to be in the stands to witness his brother’s big win.
