From published obituary: Wallace Ewald passed away peacefully on Jan. 2, 2022, in his 97th year. Beloved husband to Marjorie Ewald. Father to Bill (Kim) and Don Ewald. Grandfather to Jeff (Ashley) and Troy (Kristine) Ewald. Great-grandfather to Kaelyn, Payton, Autymn, Madison and Colton.
A very modest obituary for a former South teacher whom Carolyn MacVicar (’80) described as “a legend when I attended”.
Wallace Ewald, known as “Wally” by students as well as staff, arrived at South in 1959 and for the next 24 years skilfully imparted his knowledge of chemistry. When he finally retired in 1983, the grad committee made buttons (pictured below) for the entire graduating class, to honour a teacher that Allison (Milligan) Fish (’83) described as a “great teacher, quite a character!!”.
