As part of the celebration for South’s 100th anniversary as an institution, the SCAA executive wants to create what we are calling a “Wall of Recognition” to demonstrate how over the past century South alumni have distinguished themselves in many fields of endeavour. The members of the executive have already been asked to submit some possible names, and we feel that it is very important to give all alumni the opportunity to make recommendations.

If there are any student alumni that you would like to nominate for possible inclusion on this “wall”, please submit their names along with a brief explanation why you feel they are worthy of recognition using the form below. The plan is to create a wall of posters inside the school for the weekend celebration May 26-28, 2023.

Since there may be more submissions that we have room for, we have decided to limit the number to 100: “100 Names for 100 Years”. Once we have all your submissions, the executive will have to decide on the 100 alumni who will be featured on the posters. Two principles will help guide their selection:

  1. Having most, if not all, of South’s 10 decades of existence represented
  2. Having a reasonably balanced list of alumni in each of the 6 categories selected for nomination.

The categories are as follows:

  1. Public Life (government, military, civil service, legal profession, social services)
  2. The Arts (literature, theatre, film, visual art, music, dance)
  3. Business
  4. Science & Medicine
  5. Sports & Athletics
  6. Education & Academics

So please give some thought to submitting some alumni names for recognition. Check your old yearbooks or our online class lists for ideas.

The sooner the better: the deadline for submissions is May 31, 2022.

Final note: The nominated alumni that are not included on the poster wall will receive recognition in their appropriate decade rooms.
