South’s upcoming school show

We are very excited to invite you to the London debut of the Tony Award-winning Broadway show “In the Heights” put on by the musical theatre program at South Collegiate Institute.

IN THE HEIGHTS tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York’s Washington Heights neighbourhood – a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open, and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams, and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind. IN THE HEIGHTS is the winner of the 2008 Tony Awards for best musical, best score, best choreography and best orchestrations.

This latin/hiphop show features rhythmic rap numbers, emotional songs, and high-energy salsa dancing.

This is the 10th anniversary of the South Musical Theatre credit program, and to celebrate, this year’s production has invited South alumni to participate in the show. Rebecca Blake, Melissa Peters, Ali Johnson, Ross Mortimer, and Kaitlyn McLagan will be featured throughout the run of “In the Heights” along with twenty talented, current South Lions!

The show will run Jan. 14-17th at 7:30 PM in the South auditorium. Tickets can be purchased through www.onstagedirect.com for $15. All seats reserved, $20 at the door.
